Where Did the Time Go!

I got a wonderful email this week. One from a friend from high school who I had just gotten back in touch with a year or so ago. She was emailing me to find out if I would like to help organize a 15 year class reunion for next June (2008). WOW 15 years!!! Sure doesn't seem that long most the time. So I have been spending the last few days and evenings trying to help track down people. Isn't the internet a WONDERFUL thing! We have been able to set up a Yahoo Group so everyone can catch up plus stay updated on plans for the reunion. And thanks to email, it is much easier to contact everyone. We will still do formal announcements via mail later on, but for now it is all on the internet. I am REALLY enjoying catching up with people that I haven't talked to since high school. It is so interesting hearing what they have been up to all these years. I found out one of my former classmates is even a published author (congrats, Courtney - http://www.amazon.com/Through-Mothers-Eyes-Spiral-Spectrum/dp/1598865900 - I can't wait to read your book)! It has been a lot of fun trying to see who we can track down these past couple of days. We still have a LONG way to go, but I think we have at least some form of contact information for over 40 of the 225 (I think that was the count) that graduated. Not a bad start!

Other news:
It is also hard for me to believe that Zach turned 7 months this past Wednesday!!

The time is just FLYING past me!!

Poor little Zach got clobbered by some of Drew's mega-blocks tonight. We had told Drew MANY times not to build close to Zach and not to hit/throw his blocks. Well, he didn't listen (of course)...and built a tower next to Zach and then smacked it with his hand sending it flying at Zach. The top block was a sort of triangle shape used to form a roof. It caught him just barely below his left eye...right on the bone there. Poor kid has a black eye!!

This evening it is already turn a little more purple on the bottom lid. I am SO thankful it didn't go just a fraction higher and catch him directly in the eye! His eyeball never did get red, so I think the bone of the socket saved him there. He is blinking and tracking, etc with it fine. WAY too close for my comfort!

Remodeling Update:
John has a friend coming over tomorrow who has a truck to help him go get our new kitchen countertop. Then the friend who is going to help him install it, is suppose to swing by sometime to look at what they will be working on. Might not be until next weekend for installing it though. But it is in!!

Then there is the wood for the floors. *sigh* John emailed the owner of the company and let him know our frustration about the lack of communication from them through this whole thing. We are flexible about the length of time (although we would have prefered to have it sooner), but it is crazy that they haven't kept us informed about each of the delays. John has had to call each of those times to find that out. The owner emailed him back saying he should have been brought into this earlier, that they really shouldn't have let us order the flooring in the first place (we were told they were working with a new finishing company and that they were trying to get all the kinks worked out, so we understand that it might take a little longer ...meaning maybe a month). He also said say that since this has been such a problem for us, they will let us have the wood at a "greatly reduced price". He also said he contacted the company and it was getting final coating yesterday and they should have it Monday (April 2nd). Even offered to have it delivered to our house - weather permitting. It's not a big deal for us to drive up there - plus we would have the van to keep it covered and protected. John said to, with him picking it up, he can check it out and make sure it is ok before he pays for it.

So tomorrow not only brings the picking up of the counter...but after I get back from returning some pants to the mall in the morning, I will get back to painting. I have been slacking on it this week and still need to finish all those doors. After I get finished with that, the painting will be done for awhile *cheer* We are probably going to wait until the rest of the stuff is finsihed before we tackle painting our bedroom. So that paint will just have to sit for awhile. It will give me a much needed break from the painting too :)

Monday - John will start calling around to have people come quote us prices for replacing our roof & guttering. The tornado and hail storms that came through last year, left us with a little damage...plus there is bad construction that has been causing our garage roof to leak. All of which is being paid by insurance - thankfully. But we still need to quickly get that taken care since our year since the damage time has expired (John thought it was a year from the claim...didn't realize it was a year from the damage)...and the insurance company said it is fine as long as we take care of it NOW. :) The other thing that might need to be accomplished next week is calling around to landscapers to get quotes to correct the drainage problems in our backyard, repair the front flowerbed (from the damage from the busted sewer line back in January), and then quote us grass cutting costs for the season. Our grass is already REALLY long! Our neighbors nephew said he would cut it for us this weekend, but it looks like it will be raining here tomorrow - so THAT won't happen. Guess I might be mowing grass next week or we will have a jungle in our back yard (from weeds more than grass).

Ok, enough of my rambling! I think I might actually try to head to bed early. I have stayed up WAY to late the past few nights doing tracking down for the reunion. :)

15 year reunion?! You're still a baby! ;)

Gosh, it sounds like you are overhauling your entire house! You are very ambitious but I'm sure it's going to be wonderful when it's all done. Hope you can get that flooring at the reduced price.
