I couldn't believe this when I just saw it on the local news:
http://www.winmyhouse.net/
This family in Nixa, MO is having a creative writing contest to win their home!! They said they tried to sell it a couple of times, with no success. So, since the local high school does a raffel to win a car every year for Project Graduation, they thought that was a great idea. Only thing it is illegal to raffel unless you are a non-profit organizaion. They had a lawyer research it and they came up with this idea.
The house looks pretty nice from the pictures:
8 years old Ranch with finished basement
4,500 sq ft
All brick
4 bedrooms + bonus room
3.5 bathrooms
2 car oversized garage
shop/barn with 3 horse stalls
3.81 acres
24' x4' above ground pool w/large deck
+ they will pay the 2007 property taxes & there are no closing costs
What people won't think of!!! I was wondering what happens though if they don't get many entries - it could really end up costing them! Well, they have stated in the form you must sign to enter, that they have to receive a minimum number of entries or everyone's entry fee will be returned (minus credit card processing fees) and the house will not be given away. They are only allowing 6000 entries (quite a profit their for them if that happens!) Anyone interested on living in Nixa, MO?? It is a extremely fast growing area in a medium size midwest town in SW Missouri. lol

Speaking of homes -- a little Drew funny:
Right before the above story aired on the news, Drew was looking the Homes Magazine (shows a bunch of homes & land for sale in the area). He said he was going to find us a new home to move in to. So he looks through the whole thing...pointed out a red "house" - was actually a barn - and said he liked the red "house" but then decided nah he didn't want to live in a house that color. He makes it through the whole book to the back cover and gasps. "This is the house, Mommy! Call the builder so we can move in!" Laughing, I look at the listing and notice the almost $500,000 price tag as well as the "Under Contract" across the picture (I will note that he did pick out what I thought was a very nice looking house - best looking on the page in my opinion - he has good taste!). I explain to him that that one is already sold. With a sad face and a big sigh, he says he knows why we can't move there, there are already people that live in that house. He then noticed that none of the other homes on the page have the "Under Contract" across them. Smile returned to his face, he quickly says "Mommy, we can just move into this one then!" This one almost $650,000. lol The kid already has expensive taste :)
