A Big Kid!

Zach had his 9 month check-up this morning. He weighed in at 26 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 30 inches long. A BIG kid!!! He continues to be off the chart in height, weight and head size, but is staying in the nice curve shape...so right on schedule for his size the doctor said. Only thing he should really be doing right now that he isn't is waving bye-bye. He has done it once or twice, but usually he won't. Drew had to go along with Zach and I to the appointment and MAN was he wound up! He just wouldn't sit still and was all over the place - drawing on the dry erase board (which is put up to occupy kids - so this was fine), playing in faucet/water, looking in drawers, etc. ! I even turned from talking with the doctor right at the beginning to see him playing with the otoscope (the thing used to look in the ears)!! I could tell the doctor was NOT happy about that one, because she pointed out that was a $500 "toy" he was playing with there. And right after that she took him out and had one of the nurses watch him. I was so embarrased that he wasn't listen at all! We are just at wits end trying to find some way to get this child to obey!!!

I also talked to the doctor real quick about Drew seeing an allergist. She said that she would send us if we really wanted, but that the allergy testing wasn't really accurate (often missing things) before the age of 5. We discussed how Drew has problems sleeping, etc because of his nose bothering him. Then she said that he could try Zyrtec (which she said she has never seen work on someone that Claritin didn't work on) or Singular. Problem with Singular is that in 1% of the lab testing it showed it could cause liver damage and it costs over $100 a month (a drug most insurance companies will NOT cover). She gave us some samples of the Singular to try for a month while we keep a journal to see if we see any improvements. Then we are to try a month with him off the medicine and keep a jounral to see if there are any changes. The other bummer about Singular is that it is a medicine that you have to be taking for like a week before it takes effect...meaning that it isn't something that we could give him on the days we see him having problems.

Well, my flash for my new camera came in yesterday!! *cheer* LOVE it!! Just trying to play with it a bit and figure out the best way to use it in each type of situation (ie. 45 degree angle bounce, bounce straight off the ceiling, bounce off the wall behind me, straight on, etc). I am going to have to ask for a Gary Fong "WhaleTail Flash Diffuser - Report Size" for my birthday/Christmas. ;) Now just waiting on the 50mm lens to come in. :)

Our wood floors are all in!!! *CHEER* The 2 bathrooms have the tile installed and grouted. They will be back tonight to put toilets back in and put the sealer on. The kitchen/laundry room tile is partly installed. They are hoping to finish that up tonight too so then they can come back on Thursday to grout and Friday to seal it. Which means we just MIGHT be FINALLY moving stuff all back to where it belongs this weekend!!! Here are a couple pictures of the progress just in case you don't look at our Winkflash album. Still need to clean the wood floors, but waiting until they are done tracking in and out of the house :)

Your kids sound like my kids! My 6 year old is definitely the most hyper -- and my 3 year old follows his example when they're together. But I can take the younger one with me to WalMart without too much trouble. But if they're both there -- forget it! I just try to get done as soon as possible.

Your floors look great! Congrats about the camera toys! :)
