Our New American Idol

Well, Jordin came out on top tonight - not a surprise after how she did compared to Blake last night (poor guy had a rough night in my opinion). I actually ended up missing the last 10 minutes since it ran over and I was in the middle of trying to get the 2 boys to stay in bed. I came back and there was Jordin crying and singing, so I at least knew who won. I have to admit I was a little disappointed after last week when Melinda was kicked off. I picked her from the moment I saw her audition as my favorite. I know a lot of people thought she was faking her whole surprise thing whenever anyone complemented her...and said that she was already a professional since she was a back-up singer...that American Idol was for the unknowns. Well in that case I guess Jordin shouldn't have been there either since she was on two tours with Michael W. Smith; and at age 13, recorded a five-song EP called "For Now" and also contributed to a compilation CD released in 2004. Don't get me wrong, she is a REALLY good singer (John actually said something about her being the winner after her audition)! I just wanted Melinda to win :) I loved getting to see Melida sing along with BeBe & CeCe Winans instead of being just their backup singer. I know we haven't seen the last of this awesome lady!! Heck, look at Chris Daughtry from last year...didn't even make the top 3 last year and here Idol was using HIS song as their theme for when people were kicked off...some argue that he has been more successful than Taylor or Katharine.

Ok, enough of my rambling about American Idol :)

Oh, it looks like we are REALLY going to get our floors finally installed this weekend!!! In fact, John called (he is driving back from Dallas) to let me know that the installer will stop by TOMORROW night to drop off tools and look at everything again and come up with a game plan (as far as where he will be starting). Then he will be back Friday morning to START!!! WOW! I was thinking that he wouldn't start until Friday night...which means I have spent this evening cleaning out the laundry room (everything except the washer & dryer so I can do some quick loads tomorrow) and the storage closet in the kitchen and then coat closet by the entry way. Man I have a LOT to get done tomorrow and tomorrow night - laundry, scrub the kitchen and bathroom floors, clean the bathrooms & kitchen, vaccum, move all the kids toys downstairs...straighten up our bedroom for them to get through to the master bathroom :) Plus I need to figure out something to do with Zach during the day while they are here for his naps. I have a feeling we will have some VERY cranky kids for a few days from lack of sleep during the day :) Thankfully Zach has already been cutting back on his naps so it won't be quiet as a big impact. And it looks like the weather isn't going to be very cooperative the next couple of days. They are calling for rain tomorrow through Saturday evening here. I thought I might at least be able to get the boys outside instead of being stuck in the basement the whole time.

Zach is going crazy with his pulling up on things. Only thing is he still has some balance problems and keeps falling straight back. NOT good on his little head! It is really cute, most the time when he pulls up on something Drew runs over to put a blanket or pillow behind him to try and cushion his fall...only problem is he doesn't always fall straight back. But it is a really sweet thing. See, there is a sweet side to Drew!! Maybe John's explaining to him that he is the big brother and has to protect (NOT HURT) his little brother is getting through to him a bit. :) It is kind of funny...and kind of annoying, but Zach even pulls himself up repeatedly in his crib. Then he starts screaming because he hasn't figured out how to get back down. He does this OVER and OVER again before settling down each time I put him in his crib. Crazy kid! :)

Zach's other new thing is sticking out his tongue. lol It seems like every time I look over at him the past couple of days he has it sticking out. I remember Drew going through this at about the same age. I have NO idea what the fascination is! Maybe the feel of it running over his 2 little teeth?

Drew's latest thing is a love for sweet pickles! In fact, yesterday he asked to have a slice of toast (no butter), an apple and 2 pickles for lunch. UGH!
(sorry about the food showing in his mouth! lol That's a boy for ya. :) I just noticed that his eyes are almost the exact same color as the pickle - lol)
