After returning home from church and lunch today, both the boys laid down for naps (the only day of the week Drew takes a nap...since he will be out a little past his bedtime because of evening service). Anyway, they were both taking good naps - had been asleep for over 2 hours - when a someone in our neighborhoods car alarm started going off. It didn't go off for long, but within a couple of minutes of it being shut off we hear a little "Toot! Toot!" come from Zach's room. Then a small silence and another "Toot! Toot!" Ok, probably not as funny as being here and hearing it, but we cracked up. What a way to let us know he was awake and ready to get up. Much nicer than the screaming we are use to hearing when he wakes. :)

Campbell's Farm
We didn't end up making it down to the farm as early as we thought we would. The boys and I got to John's office around 4:30pm, but then he wasn't able to get away early like he thought he would. Right about 6, we pulled into the farm to find that they had just started the bonfire and didn't have the grills started yet. This meant that hamburgers weren't ready to eat until after 7. John took care of cooking the burgers, so that left me with the boys. Drew ended up spending most of the evening with Spencer, one of John's co-worker's son who is about a year younger than him. They had a blast playing all evening, but I felt like I was leaving Amy (Spencer's mom) to watch Drew since I was trying to keep an eye on Zach. She was great about it though and it was VERY much appreciated! I have to say though, Drew was GREAT the whole night! There he listened very well, and there were only 2 times that I had to have a little talk with him to remind him he couldn't do everything the older kids were doing and needed to stay with me or Spencer's parents. While waiting for the burgers to cook, we roasted hot dogs and then marshmallows for S'mores. (YUM!!!) Since I was trying to keep up with Zach and keep some sort of eye on Drew, I didn't end up with many pictures for the night :( The boys and I went with the group on the hayride out to the pumpkin patch to get our little pumpkins while John finished cooking. So then when we got back I was finally able to hand Zach over to him and enjoy some food. All in all it was a fun evening of visiting with everyone. Toward the end of the evening, Drew was quietly sitting by the fire when he said "Mommy, this has been a REALLY fun night!" To me that made it all worth it :)
Since I had Zach most of the evening, I didn't get many pictures, but here are a few.

It was a fun night!
I think it was a little hard to enjoy it all with trying to get everything done. I know at one point I had hot dog juice running down my arms from trying to cook multiple hot dogs for everyone...yuck!
Oh, well...it was the perfect night for a night around the campfire. I know at one point I took a moment to look up and see the open sky filled with stars...it was so pretty!
Our kids also said that it was a really fun evening! That does make it great hearing that! We'll have to have a 2nd annual one now won't we!
The S'mores just made my night...chocolate is the cure for so many things...lol!
Jen
