I am so thankful for what has been a pretty smooth week with Drew since Zach is sick once again. It started Sunday evening with a constantly running nose and a little cough. By bed time his temp was 100.3 - not technically a fever, but certainly higher than normal. With all this came a child that will not hardly sleep during the night and then a fussy kiddo during the day. Good old colds! I just hope it doesn't end up requiring a trip to the doctor or get passed on to Drew. Drew would be very upset if he had to miss school! In fact, he has asked me more than once what he can do so he doesn't get sick. lol
Last weekend was pretty relaxed for us. I had to be up early to take the mini-van in for an oil change, but that was about it other than church on Sunday. When I returned from getting the oil changed on Saturday, the final butterfly had emerged from its chrysalis. So later that afternoon, Drew and I released the butterflies so they could enjoy a little freedom before their life cycle ended. I was concerned that Zach would try to grab them, so we did it while he napped. 3 of the butterflies took off pretty quickly, but the final one just seemed like it wanted to stick around for awhile. So Drew tried to show them how to fly...
and then give it a little nudge...
Even then it stuck around for awhile...
And with that, so ends the trip through the metamorphosis of caterpillar to butterfly. It was pretty fun, and not really much work on our part. I had to feed the butterflies sugar water every day and that was it. I think we will be doing this again. Low maintenance - low cost pet...and by the time they are getting bored with the whole thing, you are able to release them. I think that the boys will probably get more out of it when they are a little older. And next time it will just be the cost of the caterpillars.I can't really think of much else happening around here. As long as Zach is getting better, this coming Saturday morning I plan on taking the boys up to the Parents-As-Teacher's activity in the morning. They are having police and firemen, along with their vehicles, there for the kids to meet and look at...as well as some safety training activities. I think both the boys would really enjoy it. And Saturday afternoon I am going to a salon which has been recommended by two different friends to FINALLY get my haircut! WOOHOO!!
Next week brings flu shots and haircuts for both the boys. Drew is off school next Friday...so if he does well until then, maybe we will go do something special. We do already have plans for next Friday evening. John's office is going to a pumpkin patch & corn maize. That should be a lot of fun, roasting hot dogs, riding hayrides, eating some s'mores. :)
Okay, I need to go fix the boys dinner before I head out to Bible study this evening. Hope everyone is having a good week!
