So this morning started off with a more indepth phone call with his teacher to discuss Drew. She said that he is one of the more immature kids in the class....that his emotions seem very extreme (ie. when he wants to give him hugs, etc it is done over the top and then when he gets upset or angry it is REALLY mad/upset with no real inbetween - no real news to us). She also told me that she had a REALLY tough class this year with a lot of behavior problems (one boy is even being moved from the class). Of the 12 students in the class only 2 will get the candy reward today for having a good week - that tells ya a lot. The POOR teacher! She said that if you would ask someone observing the class to pick out a child that demonstrated what Drew did yesterday though, you wouldn't pick him as the one from the class....he is normally one of the more behaved kids. She suggests we keep communicating during this first month and then reevaluate at the end of September.
So to my wonderful morning that I was having already....as we are waiting for them to come get kids out of cars, Drew injuries himself today! UGH!!!
Yes that is his eyelid! And to be honest I am not completely sure how it exactly happened. I had the windows down and the van turned off but had turned the key so we could still listen to music. Well, this means that the windows still go up and down. Drew had moved into the front seat as he does every day while waiting to go inside (this makes it easier for him getting out of the van, plus then he and I chat). Drew started playing with the window making it go up and down and I told him to stop (there is no lock-out on this van like was on our other one so I couldn't lock the window controls). He started to do it again and I told him to put it down and leave it down and I even turned the key so they controls (and radio) would shut off and had then turned to look at Zach. I heard the controls and next thing I know I heard Drew scream - immediately I think he got his finger caught in the window! He is sitting back from the window holding his eye NOT his hand and I had no idea what had happened. I finally get his hand away so I can see the damage and along with his hand comes a BUNCH of eyelashes. At this point my heart is dropping to my stomach and I am exepecting to see something REALLY not good. I get him to open his eye and everything is looking ok at first. Then I have him close his eye and that was when I saw the cut on his eyelid. HIS EYELID! How in the WORLD do you get your EYELID cut in a window?!??! He said it happened up at the top. So the only thing I can think is that he had accidently pushed the control the wrong way and had tried to get his head out of the way but was a little too slow. We sat in the car while the rest of the line of kids were dropped off and I tried to decide what to do. Drew kept crying that he wanted to go to school....that he could see just fine and that it just hurt a little. After double checking there didn't appear to be any damage to his eye and that the eyelid cut wasn't all the way through (it really isn't too deep thankfully), we walked in to his school and the teacher helped us get a wet rag for him to hold on it for awhile. He still insisted on staying at school...so that is where his is now. I sure hope that was the right choice, but I really don't know what they could do to a cut eyelid. I guess I will put some vaseline on it when he gets home - hate to put anything else on that might hurt his eye. I also plan to call the doctor when they open back up after their lunch break (noon-2pm) and seeing what they suggest to do. *************
Zach still has sores in his mouth, but thankfully the fever hasn't returned. We have been giving him a mixure of Benedryl & Mylanta (per the doctor's office suggestion as well as some friends that suggested Mylanta). We have to swab the spots with the mixture...the Mylanta helps to coat them and the Benedryl acts as a numbing agent. I have also been letting him swallow some of it since a friend told us she was told by a doctor that for every one sore you have in your mouth, there are at least 4 in your throat and/or stomach. OUCHY!!! He did seem to sleep a little better last night with using the mix. We also continue to push the yogurt.

Well, tonight is suppose to be Ladies' Scrapbooking & Craft night at church, but I am really not sure I am up to going tonight. I might just curl up and go to bed early...try to escape for awhile :) I know, BAD mom for needing some time away from my kiddos :) I do love them, but it has sure been a doozy of a week. I also know that it could be MUCH worse, so I am very thankfully for just minor problems.
Ok, I think I will end with that. I will update with the doctor ends up wanting to see Drew and something comes of it :) Maybe some retail therapy would help...oh wait, can't do that we are on a budget now. ;)
