The Z-Man

**FYI: Update on Drew's surgery is below this entry.** Not to leave out Mr. Zach I thought I would share a few tidbits on him :)

Of ALL the toys in the nursery at our church, the one that Zach is most often seen playing with...a pink stroller! *laugh* He cracked me up yesterday. While playing with some cars (BIG surprise there) he starts counting. Only thing is, unlike normal children who would be counting "1-2-3" Zach is counting "3-2-1". He might not have the counting forward down but man he is flying with the backwards way. *laugh*

It continues to amaze me what this child can get into! You know the "child proof" medicine caps. Not a problem with him! Opens them with complete ease. It appears that child-proof medicine caps aren't the only "child proof" thing he has gotten around. The other day, while my parents and John's mom where here, we were in Zach's room. I had just scooted his toddler bed so that he couldn't get to the main light switch which did not have a child-proof cover and he had discovered he could reach from his bed. With the move of the bed, it was put within reach of the closet light switch. No big deal, I thought, since it has a child-proof cover on it. WRONG! Zach bounces across his bed and tries to turn the switch on like normal, which he is unable to. So he then uses his head to push up against it. I am laughing thinking how silly he is when I hear a click. It had worked! He figured out a way to flip the switch through the "child proof" plate! I guess the pressure of his head is just in the right spot to give the same pressure as an adult would use to allow the lock part to slip out of the way and let you flip the switch. The little stinker! And video proof. He is so proud of himself.
On Monday morning we woke to find Zach's PJ shirt covered in streaks of blood, as well as some on his face, hands and heal and large dried puddles of blood in his bed...on his blankets and even some on the bed itself! WHAT IN THE WORLD!! It appears that between the time John put him back in his bed (around 5am since he wasn't being cooperative about staying in his bed and John had taken him into bed with him to get a little sleep) and when he got back up a little before 8am he must have picked his nose (a BAD habit he is picking up from Drew) and made it bleed. So I spent the morning scrubbing things down - didn't think to take any picture (which I am sure you are glad about *laugh*) until I was in the middle of scrubbing his sheets.

To go along with him getting to things that you just don't think he can, on Monday afternoon he SOMEHOW got a hold of my little Sony Cybershot camera while I was cooking dinner and took it out of its case. When I walked in and saw him I told him to hand it to me, which of course he doesn't but rather throws it to the floor. Remember we now have hardwood floors in our living room. The poor little camera didn't far too well...ended up cracking the LCD display and seems to be having some problems focusing at times. It is also a little slow starting up and shutting down so I have NO idea how much longer it will hold on. I guess I will be spending the money I was saving to get an iPod Touch to get a new compact camera. UGH! (the lines running from the top to the bottom to the right side of the LCD are the cracks :( )
