I'm an Aunt Again!!

I'm so excited to be able to say I'm an aunt again! John's sister, Rebecca, had little Jake this past Friday afternoon. And what a cool birthday the little guy has - 08.08.08 :) He ended up making his arrival via c-section...but last I heard yesterday afternoon...baby & Mommy are doing well. I'm just waiting to see some pictures of him!!! We won't be able to make it out to Oklahoma to see him until sometime in Septemeber since this is John's really busy time of the year at work...plus Drew has his surgery this coming Friday. :(

Well...I didn't make it back on Monday to share how Drew spent his birthday, so I'll do that now :) We had asked Drew how he would like to spend his birthday...and his response was "in my PJs all day playing video games". What a kid! So he woke to presents from Mommy, Daddy & Zach waiting at his spot at the kitchen table and he started his day with opening them.

After I finally got him to the table and he had breakfast, he decided he would rather build with his new Erector set and Legos instead of video games. So we spent the morning building each of the vehicles from the Erector set. Then he built the Lego vehicle himself while I cooked dinner that evening. He did get some video playing time in and he never took off his PJs :) He also picked BBQ Hamburgers, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for his birthday dinner.

Thursday morning, we went for Drew's pre-op appointment at the hospital. During the time we answered lots of questions and met with the anesthesiologist. We also met with a nurse who had pictures of everything Drew would see during his time in the hospital. He got to try out the "sleep" mask as she called it and the "finger kisser" (that monitors your heartrate). I also got approved to be in the operating room with Drew until he falls asleep. Drew was happy to hear I would be able to go in with him.

Today I took Drew to have his birthday pictures taken. This year I took him to a photographer from our church. She did a GREAT job and had such patience with him!! She even took some shots outside. Fun! I look forward to her taking our family pictures in October.

Zach

Ah Zach! We are STILL struggling with getting him to stay in his toddler bed all night. The worst part is getting him to initially fall asleep. Although, this afternoon John was holding him during nap time and Zach woke up and wanted down - I thought to play. I was wrong though! He grabbed his blanket and pacifier (yes we need to still break him of that - one thing at a time) and walked to his room. He crawled in his bed and I thought he would pop back up within a few minutes. Nope! He ended up falling back asleep!! Completely shocked us.
Ok, well it looks like Zach isn't going to stay in his bed again tonight, so I've got to go get on duty for another long night.

Glad Drew enjoyed his birthday, he looks like he got to really enjoy his presents too!
OK I have missed something - OP???? What? You must be so scared Jen, but he will be fine, Quinn had a hernia op a few years back and it was awful, but they were very good to her and it turned out it was only traumatic for us, not her! I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts!
The pics of Zach are gorgeous in his bed! Too cute :-)

I too am equally glad Drew had a great birthday... and isn't it great when kids want to play with real toys rather than electronic ones!! WTG Drew!!

But whats this about an OP??? What is he having done? How long will he be in for? Honestly Jen, no need to spring that one on us like its a day at the park! LOL
If you email your snail mail address i'll send him a cool BRIT card!

And wow doesn't Zach look like Drew now? LOL hope he starts liking his new bed soon :)
