Happy 1st Day of October!

Wow, it's been a week since the last time I dropped by here. Doesn't seem like it has been that long ...well in some ways it does :) And as usual, this will probably be a LONG entry (just warning ya)!

Last week was pretty much a normal week with a cold thrown in there for Zach and I...and John by the weekend. School for Drew Mon/Wed/Fri...as I said before Monday went well...Wednesday wasn't a good one...but Friday was pretty good. 2 out of 3 is better than zero out of 3 :) Monday night at soccer I ended up having to take him off the field because he kept whining and not doing what he was suppose to. Bad on me for letting him not have a nap because he had had a good day at school. So we are back to forcing naps pretty much every day. I let him off on Tuesdays if he is being REALLY good since we don't go anywhere. He still puts up a huge fight most days about taking a nap, but the new rule is if he doesn't get his nap on Mondays no soccer that night. Because quite frankly if he doesn't nap he doesn't get anything out of it and ends up being a distraction to the rest of the team.

Saturday was pretty chaotic. Well, the morning was at least. We had to be at his soccer game an hour early for pictures. It wasn't very organized which lead to our team being 15 minutes late to the game :) At least it was a little cooler morning this time - so Drew only sweat a normal amount. *laugh* That child sweats like crazy! He just walks outside on a warm day and it is running off his head. I know - kind of a gross subject - sorry ;) I think all the waiting for pictures "used up all his goodness" (as he puts it) because he wasn't playing very nice at the soccer game. He kept purposely running into people to knock them down! He wasn't even paying attention to where the ball was at all. I think he maybe should be playing hockey. We even called him off the field a couple of times to tell him that was not appropriate since his coach didn't seem concerned about it. I know that some pushing and shoving happens with little kids playing soccer....but this was WAY overboard body checks! And part of the reason for him playing is to learn some of the rules of soccer.

John's mom and step-dad were in town Saturday, so she was able to come watch Drew's game (which he thought was so cool...he kept telling people during the pictures that his grandma was coming to watch him). We then went out to have dinner with them at a yummy steakhouse here in town. Only problem was Zach was in a bad mood by then and wasn't real happy about sitting and wasn't very hungry because of his cold so the usual food distraction wasn't working very well.

Since Zach still has a real runny nose on Sunday, we didn't go for Sunday School. During the AM service, Drew's choir sang a couple of songs and recited a Bible verse. He did really well with that (although he did very few of the actions to the songs....but at least he wasn't jumping off the risers or pushing others off :) ), but then he got kicked out of his children's church class after that. *sigh* We had been hoping that when he moved up to the 4-year-old class things would be going better for the AM service (the only one he seems to be having problems with). Well...his teachers evidently moved on with him. I'm not trying to pass his problems off on any one else, but I wonder if there is a personality conflict between them...or just people that aren't really use to working with kids and expecting WAY to much. I KNOW he is FAR from perfect, but his other 3 classes at church he does fine in (not perfect, but nothing more than the others are doing...as one of his AWANA teacher told me, he was FAR from the biggest problem for them). Just makes ya wonder. Evidently this time he was eating another child's snack, refusing to cooperate/listen and even hit a teacher. NOT acceptable! So he and I spent some time out in our van during the service. We would have sat there the whole service, but I had left runny nose Zach with John in the video room (John runs the video recording for the AM service), so I knew I needed to get back in to help with Zach. John then left for a business trip yesterday afternoon so it was just me and the boys for AWANA. I had Zach with me in the club I work in and since Drew had taken a nap and seemed to be doing better at listening, he went on to his Cubbie class. I walked by one time when they were outside and he was having to sit down (he wouldn't stop walking up the slide), but they said he was fine the rest of the night. Hmmm, it just dawned on me....I might see a connection here as I am writing this. *laugh* He not only has some problems with transitions, but also seems to have more trouble in the free or unorganized times (ie. recess/outside time...which kind of goes for children's church time from what I observed the times I was in there). Something to look at a little more closely.

So we get to today. Monday again...John was gone over night at a conference (will be back late tonight)...had to get Drew off to school...dreading what kind of day he would have (could he be effected by John being gone?). Then I pull up to school, his teacher is walking him out and they both have a serious look on their faces. Oh no (I actually groaned out loud *laugh*). Then he teacher says she had to walk him to the car to let me know what a WONDERFUL day he had! *SHOCK* He lined up right when called and didn't whine/fight about not getting to be first in line (something he is having trouble with)! THANK YOU LORD!!!! There was even a note from his teachers in his bag about how he lined up perfectly and when he did start to complain about transitioning during class, be cut it off and did what he was suppose to. Oh how I love those reports! :) Now if we can have one more good day at school this week...he is off Friday.

So since both the boys are sleeping and I have now caught you all up on our little world, I think I will go try to figure out what to have for lunch :) Since I can't leave a post without a picture and I haven't gotten the pictures from Drew's choir singing off my camera yet (was trying to make room on my harddrive for them), I leave you will a picture of our little "Tot Monster" (the "Tot" - as in tator tot - was a toy in one of Drew' WackyPack meals from Sonic) & of course he has something with wheels too (he LOVES vehicles)

** Side note: I have now lost 26 pounds!! WOOHOO! Just a little less than half way to my goal :) Only thing is all my capris don't stay up well *laugh* and I don't want to go buy more this year with hopes of loosing more weight by next summer. So I am really hoping it starts cooling off soon so I can move on to wearing jeans and pants comfortably :)

26 pounds! Woohoo! I wish I could make myself be more disciplined. I like Drew's saying, "I used up all my goodness", haha! Some evenings I feel like that. Cute pic!
