Last week was filled with the usuals...school, soccer & swimming. Drew had rough days at school last Wednesday & then this Monday. *sigh* He is doing well with lining up after recess now, but he is have problems in other areas now ... like having melt downs because he isn't able to sit by who he wants to. He has one little friend in class that we hear about ALL the time at home, and evidently he thinks they should always get to sit together.
At his soccer game on Saturday he played one quarter, but when it was his turn to play again he wouldn't go out on the field. He said he was too tired and just didn't want to. Their practice was cancelled last night due to rain, so we will see how it goes this Saturday. He will be playing against a team that has a little friend of his from our church. My parents came down for a visit last Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. While they were here, we took the boys to the pumpkin patch. Since there is suppose to be a shortage of pumpkins this year, thought it would be best to go get some now. Drew had a blast running through their little hay bale maze and Zach just had fun exploring everything. Every pumpkin had one side of it that was kind of yucky looking (from laying in the fields), but we found some that look pretty good on the other side. Between my mom and I, we ended up with more than a few pictures ;)
Zach is becoming quite the little speed demon with his walking :) Thankfully he seems to FINALLY be over his cold and his poor little nose has recovered from all the wiping. I am finally biting the bullet with him and refusing to give him a bottle in the middle of the night. Over the past 13+ months of his life, he has only slept all the way through the night 3 times! Up until now, I felt like he needed that middle of the night feeding still since you could hear the milk hitting his tummy and he would just guzzle it down. That is no more and it had just become a habit. SO...last night every time he woke up, I just went in, helped him find his pacifier, tucked him back in and walked back out. The first time he was FURIOUS! He screamed for about a half hour before going back to sleep. The other two times he woke up in the night were much better though. So hopefully after a few night of this, he will see he isn't going to get a bottle and just decide to not fight it any more. I tried just giving him a drink of water when I went in each time and he seemed to be pretty thirsty and took really long drinks both times...so I will probably try just that for awhile. If the crazy sippy straw cups didn't leak, I would just leave one with some water in it in his crib every night. So hopefully within the next month or so I will get to sleep all the way through the night. Wow! I haven't gotten to do THAT since....hmmm...well except for a few times here and there, I guess it would be before I was pregnant with Drew!
I leave you with a couple little video clips. The first is from Drew's swimming lesson last week. It isn't great (took it with my Sony Cybershot) and I cut of their heads for a little bit at the beginning because I was trying to be ready for when he goes under....notice he is actually wearing goggles! He didn't wear them long, but at least he wore them for awhile! Anyway, here it is
The second is pretty dark. Sorry about that, but it was again with my Cybershot and at night...but this silly little tongue thing was what Zach was doing the other night at dinner. It had us all cracking up!
