Happy Belated Easter & a New Countertop

I ment to drop in to wish everyone a Happy Easter yesterday, but the day got away from me. So I hope you all had a very nice Easter and spent some time to get past all the commercialism and remember the true meaning behind the day.

We had a very busy weekend. My parents were able to come spend it with us. They were probably wishing they hadn't come down after they were put to work. Dad spent most of Saturday helping John install our new kitchen countertop and sink.

Before & After:
(not the best pictures...sorry...hoping to get the tile flooring installed next weekend)

And the other side of the kitchen (no before of this side)

So in the kitchen we still need to have the tile installed, touch up the paint where the new counter backsplash is shorter and take-out and replace the tile backsplash behind the sink and stove.

The countertop has a really neat texture to it...but it is so slight a texture, you are suppose to be able to put a piece a paper and write on the paper without the texture effecting the writing. This picture shows the texture just a little:

Besides the counter, sink & faucet being installed, my mom and I took the boys to visit the Easter Bunny at the mall. Drew was refusing to sit on his lap, so we finally talked him in to standing next to him...and at the last minute even got him to sit next to the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny was GREAT with Zach - tickling his tummy to get some really big laughs and grins out of him.Drew also got to dye Easter Eggs for the first time on Saturday night before he went to bedEaster Sunday brought a VERY cold, record low 20 degree morning. This caused the egg hunt at church to be moved in doors. So it was held in our old auditorium...3 & 4 year olds went first, then they hid more eggs and the 5 year olds got their chance. The older kids just got goodie bags of candy. The bad thing was that the hunt was held during church service! Not real good for parents wanting to watch. Since we have been having problems with Drew in class, I was staying with him to make sure he didn't act up, so I was there. (Drew with his egg haul from church)

When we got home, my dad went out and hid plastic eggs in our backyard (thankfully we found someone to cut our grass for us Saturday afternoon) while I finished getting lunch ready. Then after lunch, Drew got to hunt some more eggs... all bundled up since it was still only in the high 30's or low 40's.

The two of them (my dad and Drew) took turns hunting and hidding for each other. Very cute to watch.

And not to leave Zach out...especially since it was his 1st Easter....

All dressed up for Easter Sunday:

And celebrating his 1st Easter:

Ok, I will leave you with that for today. Sorry for the supper long post today :)

The kitchen looks good! It must be nice to have so much accomplished. The Easter photos are so cute! Looks they had a good time. That Easter Bunny is even cute -- I've seen some pretty odd Easter Bunnies that would scare off any child...
