Festive Weekend

This past weekend we had some family come over for the boys birthday party. John's dad and step-mom were able to make the drive from Virgina and his sister, Rebecca, and her husband, Evan, were able to come over from Oklahoma City. My parents were also able to come down from the St. Louis area.

We hadn't seen John's dad and step-mom since February, so it was nice to have them join us Thursday evening until Monday morning so the boys were able to spend some extra time with them.

Friday night my parents got in and so did John's sister and her husband. Saturday morning brought last minute party preparations...running to pick-up the cake and the lunch (we ordered Bandana's BBQ to go again this year)...with the party kicking off with lunch. It was hard to believe that we hadn't seen Rebecca and Evan since Drew's 1st birthday party! WOW! Time sure does fly. Hopefully it won't be so long before our next visit with them since they now live only a few hours away instead of out in Montana.

After eating lunch we let the boys open their presents since Drew was begging to. :) Zach, of course, was pretty clueless as to what was going on. The funny thing was Zach was more interested in what Drew (to Drew's dismay) was opening and we had to keep dragging him back to his own presents. Then when I sat down to start help Zach open his presents, Drew became more interested in those than HIS own! *laugh*
After presents, it was time for the cake! Since Drew had gotten a birthday cake for his party with his friends and Zach was going to have his own personal cake to dive into, we just did a joint quarter sheet cake for the 2 of them for everyone to eat.

Ok, I am off to work on a few things while the boys are napping. Joy Bells (the young kids choir) starts up again at church tonight. It will be Drew's first night...have to see how it goes especially since he keeps saying he does NOT want to go sing. Then on Friday morning, Drew will be off to his first day of school - which he is VERY excited about!
