1st Day of School

Today was Drew's first day of preschool. He woke up in a bad mood (not too unusual for him), but by the time he had dressed and finished his breakfast we was getting excited about school again. He was all ready with about 45minutes until we had to leave. Then next thing I know (do to a slowpoke with the putting on of shoes and pottying) we are running a little late! Off to his first day of school
We made it with about 5 minutes until school actually started and weren't even the last in the drop-off line...so all was well. When we pulled up into the drop-off line, I told Drew to go ahead and take off his seatbelt so he would be ready to get out when they opened his door. *laugh* I then had trouble getting him to stay in his seat! And when they opened his door he almost knocked the lady over trying to get out and into school (think he was a little excited? :) ).

When I picked him up and asked what he did that day he said "nothing" *laugh* completely typical for him. He said he had a good day and that was about it (looked pretty tired to me :) ). So, since from what I could get out of him, it sounded like the day went fine, we stopped by McDonald's to pick-up lunch on the way home for a treat. Right after ordering, I was asking him again about his day and if he was good. THEN he decides to start talking! He goes into this LONG, detailed story about how he had run off the wrong way from the teacher and she had to run after him and he ended up getting time-out for not listening. WHAT>?!?! So I explained that since he hadn't been good that day, I guess he wouldn't get to have McDonald's anyway...that it was sad because here I already had the food, but he wouldn't be able to eat that. He continues on with his story of how he got in to trouble. So we pull up at our house and I put the van in park and turn to look him in the eye. I said that it made mommy really sad that he had been bad on the first day of school and question him again how he had been. He then smiles and says that he hadn't been bad, that he was just telling a story, that he hadn't gotten in trouble. Since he had been known in the past to tell ellaborate stories of how he had been in trouble (and we later find out that it isn't true), I am thinking that he had made it all up. So I went ahead and let him have his McDonald's. Returning home

He takes his nap - not a very long one though - and then wakes up and we are talking about school again and he tells the SAME story (including all the details) about how he had gotten in trouble at school! I am REALLY frustrated with him now. I am telling you - this kid can LIE so well it is very scarey :( So I inform him that I have NO idea which is the true story, but since one of them is a lie, that he has to go straight to bed after dinner for lying. I tell him how being bad in school makes mommy said, but lying makes mommy very angry. At this point I completely stop asking about the school troubles (because who knows if they happened or not!), and focus on the fact that he is lying. Just before John gets home, and as he is sitting down to eat his dinner (in his PJs already since he is off to bed right after), and he says he didn't get in trouble at school, that he was good at school!! UGH!!

John get's home and asked him about what happened at school, which causes Drew to look at him and say "Where you there??" and then he goes into the story about being in trouble.

So, after dinner it was off to bed for Drew...which of course is drawn out for more than an hour of him screaming and throwing a fit and having to be taken back to his bed after he comes back out.

At this moment, Drew is FINALLY asleep and now Zach is having fits because he woke up and wants out of his bed and I won't let him (since it is after 10pm) and only keep going in to give him his pacifier back and lay him back down in his bed. TEMPER TANTRUM happening right now. We have no idea what his deal is. We have never gotten past the middle of the night feeding with him (got close for a couple of weeks) and right now his is back up to wanting to eat at least 3 times in the middle of the night! We tried the watering the formula WAY down and he just gets up more times because he is hungry (you can here it hitting his empty tummy when he drinks and he guzzles the bottles). We started him on whole milk this afternoon and are hoping that might end up helping. Yet something else (besides Drew's behavior) to discuss with their doctor when we have their check-ups this coming Tuesday. Oh the joys :)

Sorry to have dumped all that on you :) Just a little snippet of a day in our life :)

Tomorrow brings another chiropractor visit for John in the morning and birthday pictures at Picture People for Zach. Other than that, nothing exciting.

Hope you all have a nice, relaxing weekend!

Sounds like you need a vacation! Well, now I'm dying to know, what REALLY happened on the first day of school? Did you ask the teacher?

Little boys are a species unto themselves, I've decided. Much different than raising my daughter. Well, maybe Drew will grow up to be a famous author... he definitely has the imagination!
