Well, our sewer line is all fixed...and it went very smooth. They didn't have to dig up any more of our bushes and none of the yard (only some more of the flower bed area). Now we are just waiting for them to get back to us with the final bill. Hopefully since it went so smoothly and rather quick (1 hr 45min), it might even be a little less than they orginally quoted us. Thankfully for them, the rain even held off...just ended up being very overcast with a pretty chilly breeze (although there wasn't a lot of wind where the repairs were being done) -- probably in the high 40's or so. We were talking again last night about how thankfully we are it wasn't any worse than what it was. I'm glad the worst it backed up was into the tubs and shower a little! Those are all easily cleaned up. To help prevent this from happening again, the plumber filled around the pipes with gravel and then left us a piece of PVC pipe to route our downspout out into the yard until we can get the roof, gutters and downspouts all fixed in the spring. We are REALLY finding out how many things the guy that built our house messed up on! The house is only 8 yrs old and there are lots of big things popping up that have to be fixed.
Drew had a BLAST this morning. He was SO excited that "Scoop" (the name of the backhoe on Bob the Builder) came to our house. Since all the repairs were being done right below his bedroom window, I took off the screen so he would have a nice clear view (breaking the little thingies that hold it in during the process - I really think I shouldn't touch anything right now
). Of course that wasn't good enough and he spent most of the time standing outside with Daddy watching them dig. The guy that was doing the repairs really got a kick out of him and his excitement. I thought later that I should have videoed his reaction to it all...it was great.
Well, I am off to enjoy the fact that the 2 boys have been sleeping at the SAME time for over an 1.5hr!
