New Year's Eve Recap

Hmmm...now to see where I left off from....

We stayed with my parents until the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 29th. When we got back to our house, we unloaded and then got back in the van to head out to eat with John's mom and her boss who were in town. Whew! Not a fun dinner with 2 VERY tired little boys! I don't think Drew ate much of anything and we were at his favorite place - Nakato!

That Sunday was church and then we met John's mom and her boss again for lunch at IHOP (another rough time with still tired and cranky kiddos) and then we all went to ToysRUs for Drew to spend his Christmas money from John's mom and step-dad while grandma was there to see him spend it.

New Year's Eve we had friends over for an evening of snack type foods, Wii games and just chit-chatting. (I am just realizing as I go to share pictures that I didn't get any good pictures of their youngest! :( ) We pigged out on Rotel dip with chips, some YUMMY soup our friends made (not sure what all it had in it, but it was delicious! Which reminds me, I need to get the recipe from her.), bacon wrapped littlle smokies, little mini rye bread pizzas, brownies, cookies and cheesecake. Mmmmmm! Then it was downstairs where the 2 couples challenged eachother to a game of bowling before each of our older 2 took over the controls. :) By then it was time to put our 2 youngest ones to bed and us gals took the older 2 upstairs to watch "Underdog" while the guys played Xbox games which were a little too graphic for the kiddos. By that time it was well past Drew and their oldest's bed time so we attempted to get them to go to sleep in the bedroom down stairs while the adults watched "Rush Hour 3" (good movie - btw). No such luck :) The two of them layed in there giggle and laughing until our friends finally ended up having to leave a few hours before midnight.

New Year's Day, John spent in front of the TV cheering on Mizzou as they won the Cotton Bowl. This made him VERY happy, especially since they stomped Arkansas. While the boys were all downstairs, I finished up a Shutterfly book so I could use a coupon I had before it expired.

And really, since that we have been spending most of our free time trying to figure out what pieces we need to buy of Closetmaid products to redo all our closets upstairs while HomeDepot has their sale going on (hey we can save 20% if we get it all before Sunday, Jan. 13th!). Other than that we have just been trying to get the boys back into their normal routine. This has been a little rough, especially with the storms that came through on Monday night. We will get their though and hopefully that will help Drew to start behaving better at school again. *sigh* yep, it has been rough. He had problems this Monday, but was able to get himself undercontrol so he didn't have to leave early. No such luck on Wednesday though - I had to go pick him up about 20 minutes early because he had pushed 3 different kids and when he was taken to the office, he went under the chairs and refused to come out and was screaming pretty much non-stop.

Oh, I did go have a visit with an ENT (ear, nose and throat specialist) and as of right now, I go to have my tonsils removed on Saturday, March 13th...that is if I don't chicken out between now and then. *laugh*

And with that, I think I pretty well caught you all up with what is happening around here. I really enjoyed seeing so much of our family over the holidays, but I am VERY glad to be getting back to a normal routine! Anyway, I think I better be going to figure out what is for dinner tonight :) I will leave you with one last picture. This was the one we ended up going with for our Christmas cards. A lot of you have alreay seen it since, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out and wanted to share :) I did have a lot of trouble with getting Zach not to look too orange (the boy LOVES his carrots & sweet potatoes) and Drew not to look too pale (poor kid takes after me there).

Oh, and I know I am late but....HAPPY 2008!!!

Cute photo of the boys in their pjs! We got a Wii for Christmas and the boys have been playing it non-stop. But hey, at least they're getting some exercise! And me too. The only one I can sort of play is the bowling. I'm awful at tennis and baseball.
