DREW
=========

Wednesday & Friday morning Drew had school. Good day on Wednesday - cracks me up that as soon as Drew gets to the van he is yelling "Mommy! I had a REALLY good day!" for the whole world to hear :) Friday his teacher brings him out to the van (always makes me groan inside since I know something has happened...and it isn't a good thing). Drew is screaming his head off -- evidently he hadn't wanted to put the Legos up when it was time to clean up to go home and had proceeded to scream and throw one of his mongo fits...meaning he had to sit in the classroom while waiting for parents' to get there while the rest of the class sat out in the hall like they usually do. *sigh* She did say that that was the only bad thing for the day...so that is the good part :)
Thursday morning was swimming lessons. I forgot to tell about his swimming lessons. Last week there were 3 of them in his class. Nice and small. It was Drew, another little boy Drew's age and then a younger little girl. The other little boy was a WILD child! *laugh* Since it was Drew's first time there he was actually really good and sat on the step like he was suppose to with the little girl. The other little boy was ALL over! The funny thing was Drew turned to me at one point and said with a serious look, "Mommy, Parker isn't listening." *laugh* Calling the kettle black!!! This week the little girl wasn't there (don't know if she was scared off by the 2 boys or what...will have to see if she is back next week). And this week Drew was a little more comfortable with the situation and didn't do as well with the sitting on the step. Still not HORRIBLE...but I sure feel for Ciera (the young college girl that is teaching the class)! Two rowdy little boys - UGH! The thing she is really working with on Drew right now is getting use to water in his face (which he HATES) and trying to get him to put his face down in the water. They start the session off with blowing bubbles in the water....then blowing bubbles in the water while reaching down to get a toy that is in water (lol - leave it up to Drew...when she tells him to get the toy in the water...does he use his hands to reach and get it...NO! He uses his feet to get it so he doesn't have to get his face wet! *rolls eyes*). Then it is on to front glides. For this Ciera has him put his hands together over his head, and then lay down in the water on his tummy. She hold him from underneath to help him float. He is SUPPOSE to put his face in the water and blow bubbles as she pulls him along in the water. That doesn't happen very often though - getting his face down close to the water that is. Then they move on to back glides. Drew puts his head on her shoulder and lays back as she moves through the water. I think to just get them use to floating on their back - which is another thing that freaks Drew out...can't stand the water in his ears. Then they get out of the pool and go to the side. They are suppose to stand and then jump in feet first. Of course Drew won't stand...he starts standing....then goes to sitting and even then makes her hold his hands while he slips in the pool. It is during this that she usually sort of dunks him a little to get him use to water in his face. The good thing is he always laughs about it. They end the session with sliding down the slide. For this Drew again makes her reach way up and hold his hands the whole way down. And again at the end she does a quick dunk with him. He seems ok with it whenever she dunks him a little - no screaming fits about it, usually laughs about it actually - but he will NOT do it himself yet. I went ahead and signed him up for another 8-weeks after this one if over. I figure if we make progress with this 8-weeks I don't want him taking time off and being back at square one :) So that means we will be going every Thursday morning at least through Dec. 14th :) The bad thing is Zach has to go along with us and just watch. THAT doesn't make him very happy because he SO wants to be in the water too - he LOVES water and has no problems with it in his face at this point. I am actually thinking it might be good for him to take the baby swim class just so he doesn't get spastic about water in his face like Drew has. Problem is I would have to get in the water with him for lessons...something I wouldn't look forward to doing *cringing at the thought of getting in a swimming suite*
Other Drew news...we have finally got Drew trying some different allergy medicine...which was a journey in itself! Last week I went to have his prescription for Zyrtec chewables filled....it was going to be $75 for one month worth!!! UGH! Evidently the insurance companies are raising its price to try and force you to use over-the-counter stuff instead. So I call the doctor back to try a different type and hopefully CHEAPER medicine. She says she will send out one for Rynatan-P which is an older one that they have brought back on the market. So I decide this time I am going to call our insurance and check on its price. They says that it is $75! But if they have the generic then it will only be $10. So I call up the street to the grocery store we usually use to fill our prescriptions and where we were having the doctor call it in....they say they don't see the generic and were rather rude that they didn't have time to look and make sure. So I was thinking, well I guess we will pay the higher price this time and if it works, then call around and find someone with the generic before we get a refill...or even use the mail-order rx through our insurance. So I warn John when he went to pick it up (which he wasn't happy about the price). Well he comes home with it and they DID have the generic - THANK YOU LORD!! And so far it seems like this medicine might actually be working. Drew hasn't woke up during the night with a bloody nose or crying and rubbing it. ALL pluses. Hopefully this will help him out. And a plus - this medicine can cause drowsiness :) I know bad mom here, but he takes a smaller dose in the morning so he doesn't fall asleep at school (bet his teacher wouldn't mind that at times though - lol) and then his regular dose at night. Thankfully, so far, it doesn't seem to have the reverse effect like Benadryl did to him (making him bounce off walls).
Tomorrow night brings the first night of AWANA for Drew and I. He is pretty excited that it will be starting back up.
Hopefully I will have some pictures to show next week from Drew's first soccer practice. He is suppose to have his first one next Monday evening...but we will have to see what happens with that since it has been raining for the past few days and is suppose to continue through Monday. And Monday night practice is an answer to prayer. I was worried it would end up being on Tuesday evenings and right now Tuesday is our only day of the week without something going on (Sunday: church & AWANA, Monday: Drew's School & soccer practice, Wednesday: Drew's School & Joy Bells children's choir, Thursday: Drew's swimming lessons, Friday: Drew's School, and Saturdays will soon be soccer game days!)
Oh, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a child to stop biting their nails!??! Drew bites them SO much (thanks to a horrible habit he picked up from his Daddy), that they actually bleed sometimes!! UGH! Think I am going to try some of that stuff that you paint on the nails that tastes bad.
ZACH
==========

Zach is still sick from that junk Drew brought home the first day of school. He doesn't have the runny nose any more, but he has been running a temp in the 101 range for the past few days off and on. So yesterday afternoon I took him in to the doctor to just be sure it wasn't an ear infection (since he pulled on his ear a couple of times on Thursday and has been sort of fussy). The doctor checked him all out and said that his ears, throat and nose all looked clear. And of course his fever FINALLY broke right before the appointment. So we are suppose to just watch it the next few days and if the fever just won't stay away, call in for some medicine. This morning he was running a 101.2...but then this afternoon he feels pretty cool. Other than being a little fussy and sleeping a little more than usual (he actually slept through the WHOLE night Wednesday evening for the very first time), he seems ok...is playing and eating fine.
Thursday afternoon, Julie with Parents-As-Teachers came over to work with the boys. She was actually here to work with Zach, but did a couple of things with Drew so he wouldn't feel left out. *laugh* Zach did pretty well. She was amazed on how long he will work on something...how persistent he is. She game him a plastic container filled with some balls. It had a screw on lid, which she unscrewed, but left sitting on top. He spent a LONG time just lifting the lid off and then putting it back on...he even tried to screw it back on. *laugh* He then spent time taking the balls out and putting them back in. The other thing they did was read a book and practice staking things.
Zach's walking has gotten pretty good. He now spends more time walking than crawling. It is kind of funny, because when he does fall down, he usually gets mad and screams before getting back up. He SO wants to be running after Drew, and I don't think that is too far off now :)
JOHN
========
He is still going 3 days a week to the chiropractor for adjustments. And so far hasn't had a migraine since he started them! It would be WONDERFUL if this ends up solving that problem...but also frustrating that he has suffered ALL this years (since late grade school) and something this simple might solve it.
ME
========
Last Thursday evening (to just go along with the horrible couple of weeks we were all having) while eating dinner one of the corners of a back tooth broke off. I didn't even know I did it until my tongue rubbed it. And of course it happened before the long Labor Day weekend. When I called Friday morning to try and get in to have it fixed, they were closed...and then they were closed Monday for Labor Day, so I finally got in on Tuesday late morning. Thankfully I wasn't having any pain other than where my tongue was rubbing against the rough edge. I am also thankful that the dentist was able to fix it with just a filling (will have to see if that lasts though, or if I need a crown) and was even able to do that with no Novocaine since he wasn't doing any drilling to the tooth, just a little to the filling that was already in there. But MAN I never realized how painful it is to hold your mouth open - and of course he was working in the VERY back - for THAT long! With the painkiller it helps to deaden that some and I just end up with the soreness after it wears off. I had no problems with him working on the actual tooth, but couldn't wait to be able to shut my mouth! Plus the metal thing they put in there to surround the tooth while they working on it was digging into the side of my mouth. I've decided, if ever in that situation again of being given the option of having the Novocaine or not - TAKE IT!!! It was nice not to have to go through being numb for hours after, but it is more than worth it for during the process :)
The weight loss is still going slowly but surely. I reached the 20 pound loss mark this past Monday!! In a little over 2.5 months, not bad. Now 35 more to go... and about 9.5 months to do it:) It is nice to have my pants getting a little loose on me :)

Congrats on the 20 pounds! Wish I could do that. I need more self-discipline. I don't know how to cure the nail biting thing. Jacob tends to suck his lower lip. It's funny, he looks like a rabbit. He's done it for almost 2 years since we took away his binkie! And he's wearing size 11 shoes now. I guess he has big feet.
