The day started off looking like it might be on the possitive side since for the first time in a few days we woke up to it NOT raining. Zach and I dropped Drew off at school and then made a run to Target to pick up some things (our main focus being finding Drew some size 9.5 shoes...since the 10's I had bought him were too big and he said they hurt his feet) and then a stop at the grocery store.
Got back home and put Zach down for a short morning nap and then it was time to go pick Drew back up from school. His teacher didn't walk him out to the car and he claimed it had been a good day. Feeling pretty good, I opened his backpack only to discover a note from the teacher's assistant. UGH! Evidently Drew threw a MAJOR fit when it was time to go in from recess. The Ms. Lisa had to go and physically remove him from the playground equipment and then had to basically drag him back to the room kicking and screaming and even time-out did no good. *sigh* So when I got back home, I immediately called up to the school to talk to his teacher. We talked about the situation (she said she had had to take another student inside because of a situation and Ms Lisa had to get the kids in by herself...Ms Kim was wondering if Drew might have noticed this and tried to take advantage of the situation). Looks like we will try a sticker chart with him - with him earning smilie stickers for good days at school and when he reaches a certain number, he will earn some reward (like a movie, trip to Chuck E Cheese or get to rent a video game to play). If the charts work for this like they did for potty training, it won't last long though. I really need to go dig through my teaching stuff and try to find some of my behavior modification stuff (from working with Behavior Disordered children) and try that with him.
Lately Drew has REALLY been fighting naps (even more so than every before), so John was thinking it might be time to give up on them (a good majority have given them up before this age, but he is one I have felt still needed them). Problem with that today was he refused again, so I just made him lay down and relax for his usual nap time...but this caused problems with soccer practice.
As I just mentioned, tonight was Drew's first soccer practice. It was majorly down pouring when it was time to leave the house, but I figured I would at least go see if the coach was there to get a schedule. Well, when we got to where the practice was, it wasn't raining there but the fields were really wet. So I was again thinking there would be no practice...I was wrong. They got out there and did a few things. I hadn't taken my nice camera, so I tried to get a few pictures with my little Sony Cybershot. Problem was I was also trying to hold Zach while taking the pictures so they didn't turn out too well. Here is a short video clip showing Drew practicing his dribbling (one of the few times during practice he was doing what he was suppose to)
Man it was hard trying to get Drew to do what they were wanting (as in not kicking the ball in the complete opposite direction when he KNEW which way he was suppose to be kicking it) as well as carry Zach around (because of course he wouldn't just sit in his stroller...he was having a cranky day himself). UGH! How many more weeks of this? :)
And of course here is Drew getting ready to kick the ball when he was suppose to be listening to his coach explain something *sigh*

Thankfully Zach's fever finally broke last night and he was cool during the night and this today. So maybe we are finally past all that...only now he is just being really fussy.

These days will pass.
One day you will look back and remember them with laughter and longing.
I know this from hands on...remember Carly?
If you find any behavior modification tricks that work, share them with me! The only thing that works for me at home is grounding from friends and bikes, and taking away TV and video games. I need to do more positive reinforcement though. Good luck! PS, I think I'm going to have two Yahoo blogs, one Private and one Public for artsy stuff. You should still be able to see me Private one since you're still on my friends list -- that is, if you get the urge to stop by! ;)
Well...I'm a little worried about you...did you make it through the rest of the week ok? Are you still there? ha ha! I cannot wait to see what you write about the days following! Hope you're doing well! Love ya!
