"Redgies"

Me - "Drew, what are you doing? Do you need to use the potty?"
Drew - "No Mommy, I've just got a redgie"
Me - "A what?"
Drew - "A redgie. You know Mommy, when my underwear goes up my bottom!"

What a kid :) This was one of the conversations Drew and I had this morning. Yes, he was attempting to say "wedgie", but "w" is one of the sounds he has difficulty pronouncing at times.

We had a nice, although a short and busy, visit with my parents and extended family this past weekend. We actually spent most of our time in our van...driving up to my parents, then driving back and forth to my cousin's wedding on Saturday and then back to our house on Sunday.

And a picture of the Bride and Groom (who is my cousin). Ryan is a REAL character and I have quite a few pictures with him giving me a thumbs up or doing other goofy things.

We are currently in the process of finding someone to do our landscapping. We would LIKE to find someone to do it this fall, but from a couple of calls I have made today that might be a little more difficult than I thought. Evidently a number of landscappers start booking a season ahead. I did find one that is suppose to be over later this afternoon to give us a quote. He said they are working about 3-4 weeks out right now (meaning the end of Oct before they could get to us). So I guess we need to get busy on finding someone! We put it off this long because the co-worker of Clay's (the guy who did all the work to the inside of our house) was suppose to drop by and give us a quote for him to do it. Evidently he is pretty booked up too and doesn't know if he would have time to do it this fall. Guess that's what we get for waiting this long to try and find someone :) Might have to be put off until Spring.

Speaking of the work to the inside of the house...Clay is FINALLY all finished!!!! Clay and Fielding came by last week and put up the final storm door. Now to just get around to doing the touch-up painting, install the handrails down the steps and we will be able to call this huge part of the project COMPLETE :) :) :)

Last Thursday Drew ended up getting to have a private swimming lesson which was really nice. He is finally starting to overcome some of his fear/dislike of the water in his face. To my surprise (& Drew's) he even dunked himself under! Usually his swimming teacher will just dunk him a little to get him use to it. This time he was suppose to blow bubbles on the surface of the water while reaching down to pick up a toy on a step. Instead he went under - lol. I even caught it with my camera - not the best picture since I was shooting without flash and with my little Cybershot, but still got it :) Drew is still struggling with obeying and behaving in school. PLEASE keep him in your prayers! We are trying a smilie face sticker chart for good days. When he gets enough he gets to pick what he wants to go do. This doesn't seem to be working right now so we might have to go back to the drawing board and come up with something else :) Per a suggestion from a friend at church (with something that is working for her son) we are trying something else too. If he has a good day at school, then he doesn't have to take a nap that day (since he is fighting those so much) , he just has to do something quiet while Zach naps. If he has a rough day at school, then he has to take a nap that afternoon. Like I've said, we are willing to try just about anything! :)

Zach is continuing to work on his walking. He is certainly getting faster at it...but sometimes he gets going to quick and falls. I tried putting some regular tennis shoes on him and the poor kid could barely even stand up in them. LOL That's what I get for not putting him in shoes more :) So we are using some Robeez, soft sole shoes right now and he seems to do ok with those. When he is more stable with his walking we will try the regular shoes again. He still doesn't talk. We get an occassional Bye-Bye out of him but that is about it. At this point I think he is concentrating on the walking so much that he doesn't want to think about the talking or even sign language. If we try working on the signs with him he slaps at our hands. At this point I'm not too worried since he seems to understand when we tell him to do things (not that he always does what we say - lol).

Something that Zach is really struggling with (that we never had a problem with with Drew) is staying in the church nursery. He goes into a full, all out HUGE fit whenever he even sees the nursery. When he first started this, if you just gave him some cheerios he would be ok. Now not even food works. I had to be paged out of Bible study last Wednesday night (just about 10 minutes into it) to get him and then Sunday evening John had to stay with him. He just doesn't want us out of his sight. With Drew he would throw the fits when it was time to leave the nursery! Just another sign of how different the two of them are :)

Today we have been enjoying a day at home. Tomorrow brings school for Drew and then his Joy Bells kids choir at night. Thursday is swimming....Friday morning school again for Drew and then Saturday morning is Drew's first soccer game. We will see how that goes. He did better this week at his soccer practice, but he is still kind of spacey out there :) At least he wasn't purposely kicking the ball the wrong direction - Thank the Lord for small blessings :) Hopefully with John at the game, I will be able to get some good pictures of Drew playing soccer. Should be funny since these little kids have only practice kicking the ball....and have no idea about playing against another team :) Might have to bring the video camera too - could be quite entertaining!

A Redgie! That's cute! I always forget to write down the cute stuff my kids say, and then I can never remember what it was later. Sigh.. Well, my 7 year old got in trouble at church last Sunday, so I can relate. Basically he and a friend were just goofing off in class, and the leader suggested that "spitting may have been involved." ?! They had to go see the Bishop. (I guess that's like going to the principal's office.) He encouraged them to behave and be reverent. Ha! When we found out, we grounded him for a week. Hopefully that will make an impression on him?
I LOVE that photo you took at the wedding! The expressions are wonderful! Nice job!

Redgie, tee hee!

Don't worry about putting shoes on the wee one until he's mastered the walking. Shoes actually impede the process, since babies need to be able to feel the ground to get a good balance. :)
