I have been looking, and dreaming, of a wide angle lens for my dslr. Well, I think I have found the one of my dreams...and I thought I would share this find in case my fellow Nikon owners are looking for a more affordable wide angle lens that should perform better in low light than current models. This lens just became available in the U.S. 2 weeks ago at B&H Photo (but is currently out-of-stock) and you can pre-order it through Adorama and it will ship sometime in June (only for Nikon & Canon though...sorry mom). It is the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX. It is getting glowing reviews from those who have gotten a hold of it (currently only available in Japan). My thing, while looking for one that would work on my Nikon D80, was that I wanted one that would perform well in low light situations too. All the current ones on the market have f/4 or even f/4-5.6. Well, the Tokina's f/2.8 would be a great improvment over those!
And at a retail price of under $600 ...that is almost $400 less than it's Nikon competitor! Now...if I could only figure out how to get ahold of one before my reunion at the end of June -- lol -- NOT likely to happen ;) Especially after John's car has required MAJOR $$ being sunk in it during the last few weeks to keep it running. One can dream though...can't I ? :)

Oh this is a gorgeous lens, and no doubt I will have to wait FOREVER as we always seem to be the last to get the good stuff! LOL

I would love a nice wide angle like that, and also the 70-200 2.8 with image stabilization. yeah, that one is "only" $1700 for the canon version.
