All Good Things...

Must come to an end :) So ends Drew's run of good days. I didn't get called up to the school to pick him up early, but from the way the note from his teacher sounds I should have been. He started off the morning at home in a pretty decent mood. Got ready for school fairly quickly and even had some time to play for awhile before he left. Guess he used his little bit of goodness he had left before school. He started off his morning at school by refusing to put the wooden blocks away when it was time to go to music class. Then, after MANY times of being told, he finally put them away ...only he threw them causing blocks to go everywhere and then started melting down. So one of his teachers stayed with him to talk while the other took the rest of the class to music. He got himself back together pretty quickly and did fine in music, but then had other meltdowns during the day...like when he was at the end of the line to wash his hands for snack, so he tried to move up into the middle of the line and when his teacher told him he couldn't do that and he needed to go back to the end of the line he had a huge fit. And these are just 2 of the incidents she wrote about. But to top the WHOLE school day off, as I pull up to pick him up, he is standing there smiling with his thumb up...and when he gets in the van he goes into this LIE about how he had a GREAT day and the teacher hadn't put the sticker on his chart because they wanted me to be able to do it...blah, blah, blah! TOTAL LIES! That doesn't sit well with me AT ALL! NOT a good day to say the least! And here I had planned to take the boys to the park for those pictures in the leaves after we picked Drew up from school. It is a windy day, but it is almost 70 and it is kind of neat how the wind is twirling the leaves around. Would have made for some neat pictures I think. BUT since Drew had a bad day, we weren't able to go. Which of course sent him into another meltdown. So it was home to have a PB&J sandwich and then down for his nap. And we are back to no books, toys, tv or video games again because of the lying.

And here he had a pretty decent weekend! Drew and John went to see Shrek the Third (which John said had no kid humor in it and actually bored most of the kids) on Saturday morning. Then on Sunday Drew did a GREAT job sing with Joy Bells for the church's 40th anniversary celebration (warning NOT a very good video since I just took it with my little Sony Cybershot and it was having problems with the focus...along with the fact that Drew was on the other side this time and there was a microphone right at the same level as his head...but you get the idea...at least he was participating and trying to do the hand movements this time) Drew is in the second row, second from the left (with his head right behind the mic :) )

He also did fine in his class at church which ment we were able to go out and eat with our friends for their daughter's birthday. When we got home from lunch, John's sister Rebecca and her husband Evan stopped by. They were in town for the weekend and wanted to stop in before heading back home to Oklahoma.
The only real problem was a small whining/crying fit after his late/short nap before AWANA. But he did fine at AWANA and even did a GREAT job with standing and waiting for me to get some pictures after church for the church anniversary celebration.

Even though we now have a gate up at the top of our steps, Zach took a pretty big tumble down the steps yesterday. And it wasn't because he succeeded in squeezing under the new gate like he keeps trying to Nope, this time he had climbed up the steps from the basement (following me as I ran upstairs to get something for Rebecca). And this time it wasn't just the couple steps between the upstairs and the landing. This time it was down at least 10 to the basement floor. UGH! Thankfully all he ended up with was a small rug burn on his forehead and one VERY scared little boy!

Ok, well I think I will wrap this up for the day. I need to go try and figure out what to do for a Christmas card photo this year and also start working on the Christmas card layout! I want to get the photo taken this weekend so I have plenty of time to get to SAMS and have them printed. Hope everyone has a good week!

He tries to scoot under the gate? ha! He's ambitious! Glad he wasn't hurt. I am still in denial that Christmas is coming. I'm not ready to feel stressed over cards and presents and decorations.
