We spent Thanksgiving with my family. We did have lunch with John's grandma (on his mom's side) while we were visiting too though. We traveled Wednesday evening - along with MANY other people - in the rain. I am just thankful it was only rain and now snow! Thursday afternoon we had lunch at my aunt & uncles (my dad's side). I'm not a big turkey fan...usually only eat it this one time a year...but I sure do LOVE all the other stuff that goes along with the Thansgiving meal!! YUM!! Needless to say it wasn't good for the ol' diet ;)
Friday morning my mom & I made our annual early morning shopping trip. We started off at Linens-N-Things at 5am, then on to Michael's, Bath & Body Works, Sears, Family Bookstore and Dick's Sporting Goods. You notice I didn't mention any of the big name spots (Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.). We usually avoid those. We didn't even go to Kohl's this year! We had or first not very pleasant Black Friday shopping experience there last year. This year was a breeze! Neither of use had very much we were needing to get since both of us had the majority of our Christmas shopping already finished. In fact, the only place we really had to wait in any line was at Bath & Body Works. We were all done and on our way home by sometime around 10:30am. This is actually the first year we didn't go to the mall too! Well, we stopped in Sears which is at the mall, but we entered and exited through Sears' doors, so I don't count that as being in the actual mall. We got some good deals - the Cricut Machine set at Michael's that normally retails for $380 but was on sale for $130!! And I always pick up a Veggie Tails DVD at the Family Bookstore since they have one each year for $5 and usually it is one of the relatively new ones - this year is was

The rest of Friday, Saturday and Sunday were spent visiting with family. I always enjoy getting to see everyone.
Last week is pretty much a blur to me :) It was spent trying to get Drew back in a routine at school (had some bad days Monday & Wedensday), getting my Christmas shopping wrapped up (finished it on Cyber Monday) and trying to work on some other Christmas projects I have. I also borrowed all my grandparents (mom's side) photo albums and am going to scan all their pictures...so I'm trying to get that worked in there too. We have also all been fighting colds! Drew had that horrible cough...then Zach got a runny nose the Saturday before Thanksgiving (and still has it - no fever though)...John ended up with hives from who knows where starting the Saturday night after Thanksgiving. They stuck around a couple days...went pretty much away and then made an appearance a few days later again....all the while we was fighting the same cold Zach had. Then Friday evening it finally got me. Nothing major, just LOTS of coughing, runny nose and general yucky feeling. Enough though that I cancelled my dental cleaning/check-up that I was suppose to have tomorrow....didn't think they would appreciate me coughing in their face. *laugh*
Oh yeah, and about our day thus far...it really could be going a lot worse...just thought it was a fun title. We were sent a note home from Drew's school last Friday that someone in his class had impetigo. We didn't think much about it since about a month ago we got a similar note and nothing ever effected him. Well...towards the beginning of last week he scratched his nose (thanks to the LITTLE bit of nail he is finally growing...making a little progress on braking that nail biting habit). No big deal, put a little anitbiotic ointment on it. Well, it wasn't really getting better and I just figured it was because he was getting the cold and with his nose runny and him wiping it alot it wasn't getting a chance to heal. Only thing is he woke up with morning with the lovely honey colors scabby junk (I know too much info - sorry) and it was looking pretty inflamed. Which ment no school for Drew today. Instead it was a trip to the doctor's office to confirm that yes, he has impetigo. So he is now on an oral antibiotic taken 3x daily as well as antibiotic ointment up & around his nose 3x daily, a bath with 1/4c bleach once a week (although she thought that his swimming lesson might do the trick since the chlorine water does the same thing...and she said he didn't have to stop those lessons since he is on an antibiotic). She also warned that where his is (up the nose especially) can be VERY difficult to get rid of & to not be surprise if it takes 2 to 3 rounds of antibiotics before it is gone - UGH! The crazy thing is, when I asked how long he has to be out of school, she said he could go back tomorrow since he is on medication! You would think since it is so contagious that he would have to be out awhile. Now to just keep up the daily washing of Drew's sheets, clothes and towels and LOTS of hand washing to try and keep Zach or John and I from getting it!
Since Drew doesn't FEEL sick, I tried to find something fun to keep him busy this morning. So we started working on the Christmas ornaments to give to his classmates. I will have to share pictures of the cute little things later (since I haven't gotten them off my camera yet). And now that it sounds like they both FINALLY calmed down and went to sleep for their naps, I think I might go take one myself....even though I have a TON of other things I need to be doing ;)
And since you know how I dislike a post without a picture, his is one of my dad with the 2 boys reading a book before bedtime while we were visiting over Thanksgiving :)

And Drew with the cute little headband they made in Joy Bells

Hey Jen - I tried to get that Cricut special, too. My mom felt bad that Michael's was sold out, she just went to Hobby Lobby and got me one. I can't wait to try it!
It's cute to see the boys get bigger. Zach and my daughter Ryleigh are both big kids. We're in 3T/4T at nearly 18 months.
Happy Holiday!
